September 22nd- The Secular Coalition for America is actively lobbying in opposition to two amendments proposed to the Senate Finance Committee's health care reform bill which will be voted on this week.  Read more »

August 5th- The Secular Coalition for America, along with thirty-five other international and domestic advocacy groups, has sent letters to the Senate asking Senators to support an amendment included in the FY 2010 State Department, Foreign Operations and Related Programs Appropriations bill to permanently protect international family planning providers from the egregious Global Gag Rule.  Read more »

September 16- The Secular Coalition for America, along with dozens of other civil rights organizations, has written to Attorney General Eric Holder requesting that he direct the Office of Legal Counsel (“OLC”) to review and withdraw its June 29, 2007 Memorandum that erroneously interpreted the the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 to exempt religious organizations receiving federal dollars from abiding by federal nondiscrimination provisions.  Read more »

Today the Secular Coalition for America sent a letter to the members of the Senate Armed Services Committee voicing their concerns about President Obama's nomination of Representative John McHugh to serve as Army Secretary. The letter urges Senators on the committee to question McHugh during confirmation hearings on his  unwillingness to address the coercive religious climate in the military.
